Workshop Stories
Robin Doubrava, Assistant Principal, Horseheads Intermediate School
"I continue to see positive results and many benefits for all involved students. Allowing students to resolve peer issue with mediators gives ownership in the solutions agreed upon between mediating parties rather than having the solutions provided by an adult. Students who take the initiative to be part of the problem solving will be more proactive in solving future issues that might arise. Student mediators gain valuable problem solving and communication strategies which they incorporate into all avenues of their lives."
Sixth grade Teachers, Odessa Montour Middle School
"The sixth grade classes that participated in the CDRC Teen Talk Program displayed improved communication skills, conflict resolution and an overall greater respect for one another."
Fifth grade student
"I feel very prepared to be a mediator and to stop fighting with my brother."
Fourth grade student
"I'm prepared to solve problems and I've already started with my friends."
